Free Coaching Session for the Next 3 Doe Bay Retreat Signups!

doe bay chairsJust about a month until my writers’ retreat at Doe Bay on Orcas Island, and I’m giving away one-hour writing coaching sessions to the next three signups! (I’ll announce it here on this post when the three signups are gone). The retreat will be four days of writing and learning at the one-of-a-kind Doe Bay Resort and Retreat. I’ll be teaching daily classes in memoir writing, and Nicole Hardy and Natalie Singer will drop by to teach guest classes. There will be great food, good company, and the beautiful long light of the days approaching the summer solstice at the 49th Parallel. Opportunities for kayaking, yoga, hiking, and hanging out in the hot tub too. Max. enrollment 20. Learn more and register for the retreat here:

I may be interested in this retreat, but would like off site lodging, if you have any names of vacation rentals or B & B or cabins, etc. Only thing that pops up when googling is this resort which is just a tad too funky for me at this ripe old age in mid-seventies!! But I love that area and have been looking for a short vacation stint in the near future, and wanting to give a try at memoir.

Thank you, or refer me to where I can get this info.

      Hi Nancy,
I get the just-too-funky thing (although the private cabins are pretty nice at Doe Bay). My favorite deluxe place to stay at Doe Bay is the Rosario Resort, which had high thread count sheets, a spa, stunning views and is just ten or so minutes from Doe Bay:

Hello, I am going to pass on this year’s retreat and watch for another opportunity.

Thanks for this blog! I enjoy reading what other folks are saying, at times quite poignant.

Hi, Theo,     I’ll add a link to your retreat in the resources section of The Writers Connection newsletter. This month we’ve interviewed Nicole Hardy. How perfect is that!    This summer I’m attending Southampton for a ten day session with Julia Glass. While you discussed the Southampton conference in class, your discussion in your book Writing is… pushed me into it.     The Kirkus Review of my manuscript is in the 4/15/2014 issue (with Rob Lowe on the cover!). Only 10% of reviews make the magazine. As my friend Deborah says, I’m “centimetering forward.”     I hope you have great success with your retreat. Now you know 3 of 5 in my writers group-Kristine Forbes, Julie Garner, and me. You’ve been a guiding force to all of us. Many thanks!     Elizabeth
